This weekend, during the middle of the night, radars detected the movement of a suspicious boat heading towards Aruba. The Coast Guard’s DASH aircraft was requested to assist in verifying. In the early hours of the morning, two Metal Sharks were dispatched to intercept a “Yola” type boat carrying a total of nine undocumented individuals of Venezuelan nationality.
Before the units arrived, those on the boat managed to throw the bundles into the water. However, the Coast Guard units, with the help of the helicopter, managed to recover them. Approximately 850 kilograms of cocaine and marijuana were confiscated.
The individuals and the drugs were handed over to the Aruba Police Force personnel. The investigation process continues, and all drugs were destroyed.
