Open your eyes: everyone must condemn and report animal abuse

This week, volunteers from the Luna Foundation received calls about several dogs howling in their neighborhood causing trouble, and the owner of the dogs did nothing to address the issue. They also received a picture of a tied-up dog tangled in a tree with her puppies.

The person who called couldn’t enter the dog’s property with her puppies to address the issue first. But they said they never expected to come across something as horrible as what they saw. “We’ve never seen anything so horrible. Nothing prepared us for what was happening there.”

One of the volunteers, Jacqueline, with the help of others, removed the mother and her puppies and immediately went to Contrera Veterinary Clinic in Shaba. The puppies were about ten days old and found a place to shelter temporarily, completely dehydrated. As the Luna Foundation stated on their page: this type of cruelty towards animals is unacceptable.

What’s sadder in this case is that Luna Foundation’s representative, Zoe Conijn, decided to file a complaint, but the authorities refused to take the complaint. They put and left this dog on a chain until it rubbed and reached its flesh. This dog went through immense pain.

The investigation told Conijn that they couldn’t take the complaint because they weren’t sure if it was intentional. However, whether intentional or not, everyone knows that leaving a dog in such a state for a long time without being able to move, nothing good comes out of such a situation. When talking about animal abuse and/or negligence, is punishable by law.

The dog was tied to a tree unable to move, without receiving help from the moment the wound on her throat would have worsened and killed her. What’s even sadder is she had just given birth to 6 puppies. The volunteers named her Khalisee, meaning warrior.
