Minister Tjon: 10 people coming from the Netherlands to reinforce justice

The Minister of Justice and Social Affairs, Rocco Tjon, met with the group who is in charge of making the plan to fortify the security of our borders. This is part of the “Landenpakket” that the Netherlands put together and donated 4 million florins to strengthen the security of Aruba’s borders. The Minister stated that he was very pleased with the presentation he witnessed in which all departments spoke on the steps they are taking.

Aruba is doing its best and, so far, is complying with all the requirements set by the Netherlands in the aforementioned agreement. Besides that, The minister also stated that he is satisfied with the plan, because the Netherlands is going to reinforce our teams with their personnel in order to aid in the border security plan.

on the 4th of July, the first 10 Dutch colleagues will be arriving in Auba to aid in the area of human trafficking as well as smuggling, while others will be aiding the Coast Guard. The colleagues who will be most visible to the Aruban community will be the three who are coming to aid our Border Police and Migration workers. The main point of interest with regards to migration is that Aruba is getting their first “Falsidesk ” that will focus solely on false documents and fake identities. This is guaranteed to improve the safety of our borders.

A little while ago, the Interpol were introduced to our borders, this has also greatly improved the safety thereof. Together with our Dutch colleagues, we will continue to improve Aruba’s safety.
