Minister asks the LGBTQ community for forgiveness after her son’s insults

“I just landed in Aruba this afternoon after a long trip to serve my country and I encountered the video of my son and his school friends on social media. I do not condone what he said or did in the video. As his mother, I will accept responsibility and offer my sincerest apologies. I did not raise my son like this and I will be having a serious conversation with him”, said Xiomara Maduro on a public “damage control” post after her son had said some seriously offensive things against Aruba’s LGBTQ comunity in a tiktok filmed on the school yard of Colegio Arubano.

Her son, Ethan Ruiz, had a LGBTQ flag tucked into the back of his pants and in the video he can be seen yanking it out as he exclaims “F**k you and your LGBTQ community. You already know all my n***** are Jesus Gang. All of you….hey…one way ticket to hell”. This was, as you can imagine, very badly received amongst the LGBTQ community. Especially because it is the son of a Minister, who is helping to run the island. The Wever-Croes II Cabinet is spewing words of inclusivity only for one of their own member’s children to utter such discriminatory words. Many believe that the son is expressing himself so freely based on what he learns from his parents at home.

The minister stated that her son’s words do not align with her and she therefore asks for forgiveness and assures everyone that she will tend to her son regarding this issue. Surely her son’s words will cause her voters to think twice about their support and this could have serious repercussions for her political career.
