Following its acquisition of Banco di Caribe Aruba N.V. on December 23, 2024, AIB BANK N.V. has announced the completion of the transition period for the use of the Banco di Caribe name and logo. The bank will now begin operating under its new branding.

Effective November 2, 2026, the bank’s official name changed to AIB Commercial Bank N.V., operating under the name AIB BANK. The change follows the receipt of all required approvals, including regulatory approval and the necessary amendments to its articles of incorporation.

According to the bank, this milestone marks a new chapter in its development. Building on the foundation, relationships and achievements established over the past decades, the institution aims to position itself for continued growth, innovation and improved customer service.

The rebranding also marks a new phase for the bank and its stakeholders, including customers and employees. The bank acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of its employees, whose contributions have played an important role in its development.

The new branding will gradually become visible on the bank’s Point of Sale (POS) terminals and ATMs in the coming days. However, debit and credit cards, the mobile app and online banking services will temporarily continue operating under the Banco di Caribe brand. These services will transition to the new AIB branding once the bank launches its new core banking platform next year.

In the meantime, Banco di Caribe N.V. in Curaçao will continue providing information technology (IT) services and payment processing until the new banking platform becomes operational.

Frendsel Giel, Managing Director and CEO of AIB BANK N.V., expressed his gratitude to Banco di Caribe N.V. for allowing AIB BANK to use its brand during the transition period. He also welcomed the opportunity to extend the AIB Bank brand into commercial banking.

“Our vision for AIB Commercial Bank N.V. (AIB BANK) is to develop a strong, customer-focused commercial bank with a forward-looking approach that contributes meaningfully to economic development, supports businesses, creates opportunities and delivers sustainable value to all stakeholders.

“We are committed to investing in our people, technology, products and banking services while maintaining the highest standards of risk management, corporate governance, regulatory oversight and compliance,” Giel stated.

The transition from Banco di Caribe Aruba N.V. to AIB Commercial Bank N.V. marks the beginning of a new chapter for the institution. With the support of its shareholders, management, employees, customers, regulators and business partners, the bank aims to strengthen its market presence, expand its capabilities, embrace digital transformation and contribute to Aruba’s sustainable economic development.
