AH&SF hosts international security workshop

by Nicole

The Aruba Hospitality & Security Foundation (AH&SF) hosted a two-day Threat, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (TRVA) Workshop on October 22–23, 2026, delivered by international security consulting and training firm The Chameleon Group.

The workshop brought together representatives from the Justice Department and hotel and tourism-related entities, strengthening cooperation between Aruba’s public and private sectors. Participants received specialized training focused on security preparedness, threat recognition, risk assessment and identifying vulnerabilities.

Security Through the Eyes of the Adversary

The workshop introduced The Chameleon Group’s proactive security approach, based on principles of the Israeli Security Model. A central part of the methodology is examining security through the eyes of a potential adversary rather than looking only at an environment from the perspective of those responsible for protecting it.

This approach encourages participants to identify weaknesses in physical environments, security measures, procedures and human factors before they can be exploited. The goal is to move beyond reactive security measures and strengthen prevention and preparedness.

The methodology builds on The Chameleon Group’s experience in proactive security, including its Predictive Profiling methodology, developed in 2003, and its Security Quality Assurance Services, which introduced Red Teaming in 2014.

Strengthening Cooperation in Aruba

The participation of government representatives and tourism-related businesses provided an opportunity to develop a shared understanding of security challenges and improve cooperation across sectors. The workshop also connected the firm’s international security experience with local knowledge and Aruba’s specific needs.

The October 22–23 training reinforced the importance of education, collaboration and proactive security in strengthening the island’s preparedness and resilience.
