Young Aruban athlete Bryden Kock is making a strong impression in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). In just four months in the sport, he has already collected five international medals.
His success started in New York, where he won two silver medals. He then competed in Orlando, where he earned a bronze medal. His most recent achievement came in Medellín, Colombia, where he secured one gold and one silver medal. Bryden said the gold medal was won using a fast combination of a lock and an armbar, which he executed with determination and precision.
His father, Bryan Kock, said he is extremely proud of his son and highlighted the hard work behind his rapid progress. He noted that the quick finish in the gold medal match came as a surprise, with Bryden ending the fight in just 15 seconds using an armbar. He added that Bryden shows strong control, remains calm under pressure, and enjoys entering the ring with acrobatic movements. The silver medal was especially meaningful, as Bryden competed in a higher weight category against an opponent six kilograms heavier. According to his father, the extra preparation played an important role in these tough matches.
Looking ahead, the young athlete is now training intensively for UFC BJJ, scheduled for August. Bryden concluded by thanking his coach, saying: “Thanks to my coach, I was able to win five medals in Jiu Jitsu.”
