Two men, aged 18 and 27, were injured in a drive-by shooting on St. Maartenstraat in the early hours of the morning.
The men were initially taken to ImSan Medical Center in San Nicolas by friends. Two ambulances later transported them to Horacio Oduber Hospital, escorted by police vehicles using sirens and flashing lights to clear the way.
Several police officers were present at the hospital. Although initial reports indicated that one of the men was more seriously injured than the other, both are now in good condition. After doctors removed the bullets, the men were discharged and allowed to recover at home.
According to reports, the victims were at a basketball court with a group of friends when a car and a motorcycle passed by. Shots were fired, hitting both men, after which the suspects fled the scene.
The witnesses, who were also the victims’ friends, told police they did not know the identity of the shooters.
Because the incident involved gunshot wounds, ImSan staff contacted the police. The men were subsequently transferred to Horacio Oduber Hospital for further treatment.
Police are investigating the shooting and are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
The identities of those responsible remain unknown, as police continue their investigation into the latest shooting incident on the island.
